Ywam, and how it came to be

Well, after returning from Senegal, we began praying and researching our next project.
We were both just open to wherever there was a need for our skills and just wanted to be in the perfect will of God. If not the perfect will, at least the permissive will.

We filled out applications to Mission Builders International, an arm of YWAM (Youth with a Mission) and left it open ended as to location. We also filled out an application for Mercy Ship (Africa Mercy) and even went to there home office in Lindale, Tx. to get more information.

We also kept up to date on our current MAPS projects that are upcoming.

In the meantime, we had some loose ends and repairs on the RV that had to be done and had to make contacts with friends and family since we had been gone for 3 months.

After everything was completed, we hadn't heard anything definite on any project, so we decided we would proceed to a MAPS project in Tennessee,,,,that is when we got THE CALL.

YWAM Kona called on a Tuesday night, and asked if we would come and help them with some room renovations so they could be used by the end of September for their upcoming classes.

I said yes, and here we are in Kona, Hawaii and we are so happy to be here. It is amazing to see all the young people from over 40 countries here being equipped and prepared for their missions calling, as this is what YWAM does. It prepares people for evangelism and mission work wherever the student feels called. This University is amazing and the enthusiasm and atmosphere here is exciting.
Every student, staff, volunteer here has to pay for everything while here, in addition to the costs for getting here. There are no paid positions at this University, everyone has been lead by God to be here and thus God is their provider. We have met staff who have been here over 25 years and still serve with an enthusiasm that is contagious.

So, in closing, Peggy has asked I keep another blog to let people know how we are doing and I will do that. Probably not every day but as I have time. We are both on a 9 hour day with meals, work, worship schedules but God is faithful to give us strength and resources at this time in our lives.

Love to all,

Ken
